(Frisco, Tex.) - The ballroom was aglow with red, white, and blue balloons and campaign banners hung behind the stage as the candidates made their way to center stage following a magnanimous introduction. "Ladies and gentlemen,
please give a warm round of applause for your next Governor of Texas, Steve Nichols, and Congressman for the 4th District, Jim Prindle," announced Bruce from the band Good Question.
Hundreds of people were in attendance at the Stonebriar Country Club to show their support for Nichols and Prindle. "I attended a Libertarian Party MeetUp a month ago and met Steve and Jim," said Ilonka Nobles, one of the invitees who attended to show her support for the candidates "We need to have Representatives that listen to the citizens rather than duck and hide… Representatives that will invigorate the Congress."
Bryan McAninch, Collin County Libertarian Party Chair, started off the speeches by introducing his wife and young daughter. "Without our families, we wouldn’t be here today," Bryan stated with wife and child proudly standing at his side. Bryan then introduced Prindle and his family.
Prindle delivered a powerful speech, complete with his promise to work to get the country back to its roots and back to what the founding fathers in-tended. Prindle said that he will introduce term-limits legislation to prevent career politicians that serve decades in Congress.
For the finale of the evening, Nichols spoke about his commitment to limited government, less taxes, individual freedoms, and term limits. One of the highlights of his speech drew a rousing round of applause as Nichols said he intends to get rid of toll roads. "If toll roads were truly a private enterprise, then it could be a different story, but the way it is now, the people of Texas purchase land and government utilizes eminent domain for the roads. Then we allow private industry to dictate tolls. Texans are paying costly sums to drive on the land they purchased."
